I would like
to thank our show photographer,
Glen Cox,
for a great job. He really captured
the essence of the show.
The first MSFGA-sanctioned show, turned out to be a rousing success. We had 9 farms participating, coming from 3 states and entering 41 goats. We were thrilled to have such a large turn out for our first show. We also had tremendous support from many others, as you can tell from the sponsors listed above. Please return this support by viewing their great ads and visiting their websites. Thanks to all the sponsors, exhibitors, spectators and hard workers.
GETTING READY

The ring, trophy table, stalls and all the other necessary accouterments for the show were set up on Friday. There were trophies to be awarded for Best in Show, Best Coat in Show, Grand Champion in each division, Get of Sire, Produce of Dam, Judge's Choice Award and Viewer's Choice Award. By 2:00 the ring was ready and the exhibitors were starting to pick out the trophies they wanted to take home.
EXHIBITOR'S MEETING

The show began with the exhibitors' meeting at 2:30 where Renee thanked all those who supported the show, explained the order of judging and introduced the judges for the day.

(Chris Holdt, Frank Baylis & Renee working
out the kinks.)
As always there were a few more things
that needed to be ironed out.
JUDGES

Judy Ratcliffe & Chris Holdt)
(Frank Baylis)
You can't have a show without judges, can you? Judy Ratcliffe did a great job as the show judge with Chris Holdt acting as consulting judge. Frank Baylis served as the third judge for the Best Coat in Show class and then doubled up as the show announcer.
EXHIBITORS

holding one of Jeanne's goats and our
expert ring steward behind her, Sharon Joly.
As well as judges, a show needs exhibitors. Some people plan ahead and get to relax before going in the ring. Others need to be highly organized in order to get the right animal to the ring at the right time.
SHOW TIME

Some of the goats were really anxious to get to the ring and others just had a ho-hum attitude about the whole thing.

(Sol-Orr's Magnum)
(Sol-Orr's Maggie Mae & Renee) (Sol-Orr's Espresso & Debbie Smith)
(Sol-Orr's Gangster & Becky McElwain)
The first class was the Best Coat in Show with nine animals competing for this honor. This class was different from the rest of the show in that three judges independently judged this class, ordering all of the goats from first to ninth. Their score sheets were given to the show clerk to tally and the tension mounted... and mounted! The results of the class were not to be announced until after Best in Show.
