Sol-Orr's Mini Silky Hall of Fame

This page is dedicated to the animals and people who have made our success in Miniature Silky Fainting Goats possible.

Below is a list of foundation animals that were used to develop the look of the Mini Silkies. These animals are very dear to us and we appreciate not only the animals but the people we obtained them from.

Bayshore's Rogues Pierre
Alabama X Bayshore's Red Robin
Bred by Frank Baylis of Bayshore Farms in Toms Brook, VA. Pierre was the very beginning of our quest to breed a small colorful goat that had copious hair, bangs and facial hair. We bred Pierre to many of our foundation does over the years to produce the look of the Sol-Orr Mini Silkies that you are seeing today. Pierre passed away November 12, 2008 at about 10 and 1/2 years old. There are no words to express the love and the gratitude that we felt for Pierre nor for how much we miss him. We thank Frank Baylis of Bayshore Farms from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to acquire Rogues Pierre so many years ago.

Bayshore's Napoleon
Alabama Son X Bayshore's Spike

Napoleon came to live with us at the same time Pierre did. He sired Sol-Orr's Noah and contributed to the gene pool of the Mini Silkies. He was an adorable Mini Silky.

Maraca and Gypsy
Cheedy X Sabrina
Bred by Anne McLaughlin of Honey Patch, these twin sisters were so important in the development of the Sol-Orr Mini Silkies. Bayshore's Rogues Pierre bred to Maraca produced Sol-Orr's Renaissance, pictured below, our first Extreme Mini Silky. Gypsy, bred to a Nigerian Dwarf buck named Freckles, (bred by Ed Kinser Of Enchanted Hill),  produced Morgan, a long coated Nigerian Dwarf Doe, pictured below Renaissance. The produce of Maraca and Gypsy, Sol-Orr's Renaissance and Morgan, produced MCH Sol-Orr's Maggie Mae, the first MSFGA Master Champion, shown below in our Master Champion list. Maggie Mae went on to produce MCH Sol-Orr's Magnum by her grandsire, Bayshore's Rogues Pierre.  Magnum, also pictured below in our Master Champion list,  won 5 Best in Shows and a Best Coat in Show in his show career so far. As you can imagine, these animals hold a very special place in our hearts and we love and appreciate the opportunity to have had them in our breeding program. Maraca passed away February 27, 2006; she was 12 years old. Gypsy is still living and just celebrated her 15th birthday on February 12, 2009.

Sol-Orr's Renaissance
Bayshore's Rogues Pierre X Maraca
Renaissance, our first Extreme Mini Silky buck, was a very important part of our breeding program until we lost him in September of 2003. Renaissance left a big hole in our hearts and farm. We treasured the time that we had him and miss him immensely.

Sol-Orr's Noah
Bayshore's Napoleon X Nandeena

Napoleon was a first cross buck, that unfortunately we didn't have with us very long. He produced some nice does and bucks for us, including MCH Sol-Orr's Liliana and Sol-Orr's Pioneer owned by Springs Run. We regret that he wasn't with us longer.

Morgan
Freckles X Gypsy
Morgan is still producing kids for us at 12 years old. Bred by Anne McLaughlin of Honey Patch, she is and always will be a huge part of the Sol-Orr Mini Silky look. How fortunate we were all those years ago to have had her come and be part of our breeding program. We are very grateful to Anne McLaughlin for allowing us to obtain Morgan, Gypsy and Maraca in the mid 1990s.
